Directions    

Leave Devizes on the A360 Salisbury Road, continue through the village of Potterne and upon reaching Littleton Panell turn right immediately before Dauntsey School sign posted to Westbury. History    

Originally dating back to the early 19th Century, The Oratory of St Giles was built as a School House for the lovely village of Bratton, but has also been used as a place of worship, particularly when the Church of St James the Great became home to the sick and the healthy came across the stream to the little chapel to pray. In 1877 the school room was enlarged with 22 children on the register from the age of only 2 years. In 1928 the school house closed and was used for Sunday school festive meetings and bell ringing classes until 2009 when the recent renovation to a residential home began. The restoration was lovingly completed in 2013 with a wonderful attention to detail, carefully retaining and enhancing the history, character and charm of the building.
